According to Dr. Diep Bao Tuan, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital, on June 15, the hospital received the handover of the first item from the Investment Project Management Board for the construction of civil and industrial works in Ho Chi Minh City.

This category includes the block of the outpatient clinic and internal medicine department, where chemotherapy is administered.

With the outpatient medical examination area, it is expected to serve about 2,000-3,000 patients from the southern provinces daily, contributing to reducing the load of 75% for the basic oncology hospital 1. The chemotherapy inpatient area is pre-installed with 200 beds.

At the same time, during this time, the hospital still maintains operations at the main facility.

Regarding human resources to operate the hospital, Dr. Tuan said that as soon as the decision to establish facility 2 was approved in 2016, the hospital board of directors initiated the recruitment and training process.

The hospital has completed its human resources plan and is ready to transfer 200 out of 400 doctors and nurses to serve patients at facility 2.

According to the new roadmap, in March 2021, the hospital will take over the inpatient treatment area for radiotherapy departments.

Particularly, the helipad for emergency patient transportation will be handed over last.
