Ha Giang casino project is hardly feasible

There will be no casino built on the rocky plateau in Ha Giang.

The People’s Committee of Ha Giang province has just announced the Master Plan of Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark for the period 2012 – 2020, with a vision to 2030. Some sources said that in this project cluster, Ha Giang

`In previous drafts, we planned to build a casino on the Dong Van stone plateau, but the opinion of 10 ministries, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was that it should not be implemented because of its feasibility.

In the current difficult economic context, casinos are considered a highlight for provinces to attract investment and increase budgets.

In return, localities also face many negative problems.

`Provinces currently really want to attract investment in casinos to increase budget revenue, but no province has yet announced how much money it has collected from casinos,` Prof. Dr. Nguyen Mai warned.

He is not opposed to building casinos, but he recommends that provincial leaders when attracting investment in this field must control the situation, calculate how much budget revenue they can collect each year from the casino, and create more jobs for workers.

Also a province where a casino project is applying for a license, a leader of Quang Ninh said that receiving a license to build a casino is not easy.

According to the master plan of the Global Geological Work of Dong Van Karst Plateau for the period 2012 – 2020, vision to 2030, Ha Giang province proposed VND 10,240 billion to build a park with priority investment projects such as this area.
