Vidic announced his farewell to Man Utd

Vidic (middle) has played nearly 400 matches for Man Utd since arriving here in 2006.

`This is the last year of my contract and here I have had eight wonderful years,` Nemanja Vidic’s announcement – posted on Man Utd’s official information page – stated.

`My time at this great club will forever be the best years of my career. I never thought I could win 15 trophies and I certainly won’t.

However, I decided to leave at the end of this season.

I don’t plan to stay in England because the only club I want to play for here is Man Utd, and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the club over the years.

Right now I want to focus as much as possible on contributing to Man Utd and doing my best for the team until the season ends.

Vidic announced his farewell to Man Utd

Vidic waved as he drove to the training ground yesterday – before releasing the farewell announcement.

Vidic joined Man Utd in early 2006 for 7 million pounds from Spartak Moscow.

Since his debut, on January 25, 2006 in the match against Blackburn in the Premier League, Vidic has played a total of 390 matches and scored 35 goals for Man Utd in all competitions, winning 5 Premier League championships.

Vidic has worn the captain’s armband of Man Utd since the beginning of the 2010-2011 season.

Due to the burden of age and constant injuries, Vidic’s contributions to Man Utd in recent years have tended to be limited.

New coach Moyes is said to still want to extend Vidic’s contract for a few more years, but the midfielder refuses.

Vidic may go to Monaco (France), Galatasaray (Türkiye), or one of the giants of Italian football such as Inter, AC Milan and Juventus.
