Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long stated the above instructions on the afternoon of May 5.

According to this afternoon’s decision, to ensure community safety, after consulting with experts in epidemiology and virology, the Ministry of Health decided to extend the centralized quarantine period for another 7 days (

The Minister of Health requested local Departments of Health to direct the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to strictly implement regulations on centralized quarantine, preventing cross-infection from occurring in quarantine areas;

Provinces and cities organized a peak campaign to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic, including conducting a general review of foreigners entering Vietnam;

According to the handover and management instructions after completing centralized quarantine of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, applied from January 2021, Vietnam is quarantined for 14 days with cases of close contact.

From late April to early May 2021, two chains of community transmission appeared in Ha Nam and Vinh Phuc, both related to quarantine, quarantine handover, and health monitoring at home.

A 28-year-old young man, who entered from Japan, completed quarantine in Da Nang, tested negative, but returned home and tested positive again, spreading the disease.

Therefore, yesterday, May 4, the Ministry of Health urgently requested localities to temporarily not release all cases that have met the quarantine conditions (at least 14 days) from the centralized quarantine area.
