Dong Nai set up 20 checkpoints, Vung Tau banned swimming

According to Dong Nai People’s Committee, from 0:00 on June 2, 8 provincial-level Covid-19 control checkpoints and 12 district-level checkpoints at main traffic routes into the locality will operate.

The main control points focus on directions from Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong to the province such as: Dong Nai bridge on National Highway 1A, Hoa An on National Highway 1K, Long Thanh at the intersection of National Highway 51 with Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway.

The move was made by Dong Nai People’s Committee after two neighboring localities, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong, continuously recorded Covid-19 infections.

From April 27 until now, Dong Nai has recorded a case in Long Khanh City, a female bar manager related to the Da Nang outbreak.

Meanwhile, as of June 1, Ba Ria – Vung Tau has not recorded a case of community infection.

The beach prohibition sign was placed by the People’s Committee of Ward 1, Vung Tau City on Front Beach on the morning of June 1.

At 10:00 a.m., a group of officers and police from the People’s Committee of Ward 1, Vung Tau City drove a loudspeaker to place a ban sign at Front Beach, where local people swim every day.

Ms. Nguyen Viet Nga, 62 years old, the last person to go ashore before the beach was closed, said she suffered from severe bone and joint disease so she moved to Vung Tau alone to rent a house early this year.

Ms. Nga said that in the coming days, she will `miss the sea very much and her body will ache.`

Ba Ria – Vung Tau has stopped transporting passengers by road and waterway from the epidemic area, through the epidemic area to the province and vice versa.
