Talking to VnExpress, doctor Nguyen Tri Dung, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), on March 19, said he received 8,000 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines on March 10.

`The Center is making detailed plans to deploy injections in units,` Dr. Dung shared.

The imported vaccines are being preserved at HCDC’s cold storage system.

In the past two days, HCDC organized two training classes to deploy Covid-19 vaccination for units eligible for vaccination, including 11 city hospitals, 3 regional general hospitals, and 20 district hospitals.

The training class provides guidance and updates to help units prepare and comply with regulations to ensure safety and effectiveness in the vaccination campaign in the city.

Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases is the first unit in the city to deploy Covid-19 vaccination from March 8.

6 cases of adverse reactions included one case of high blood pressure, two cases of moderate diarrhea and three cases of grade 2 anaphylactic reactions. All were treated promptly, progressed stably, and were discharged after 24 hours.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health directed vaccination facilities to pay special attention to instructing vaccinated people to monitor at the vaccination site for at least 30 minutes and instruct them to continue self-monitoring their health at home.

According to information from the National Expanded Immunization Program, by March 19, 16 provinces and cities had deployed Covid-19 vaccination.

From March 8 to the afternoon of March 18, Vietnam vaccinated 27,546 people against Covid-19.

The Covid-19 vaccine is being injected into priority groups in Vietnam, researched, developed and produced by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in collaboration with Oxford University, UK.

The world has recorded many cases of severe anaphylaxis, blood clotting, death… after Covid-19 vaccination.

According to the Ministry of Health, in the coming time, controlling Covid-19 depends heavily on vaccine development.
