Thailand’s sex paradise, where women are easily bought and sold

The bars are full of naked or bikini-clad young women standing around showing off their bodies for people to choose from.

On the red light street in Pattaya, there are many bars with suggestive names such as Trinh Nu or Sweet Candy (slang for female genitalia).

Prostitutes here mostly come from poor provinces in northern Thailand.

Many families naively think that their daughters or sisters are working in shopping malls in big cities.

`When guests are drunk and doing stupid things is the most tiring time,` said a girl named Lin.

`Maybe he refused to use a condom, saying he wanted me to have a child for him. Or he could beat me. One time a drunk customer cursed at me, and I couldn’t understand a word he said.

Prostitutes here earn about 28 USD per hour.

`I have a few friends who just focus on making money,` a girl in a bar in Bangkok told Kaplan.

`What I did was not good, I couldn’t marry a Thai man. Now, I’m looking for a farang (slang for Westerners in Thai) to protect me. One day I will be a good person.`

Last week, an American real estate developer was arrested in Thailand for allegedly having sex with a prostitute in public at a bar in Pattaya.

`I miss home, I miss my little girl,` a mother who had just worked 6 months in this industry told Kaplan, sobbing.
